শুধু বাঙালি মহিলা বলে নয়, সমীক্ষা জানাচ্ছে, বিযের পর বৃদ্ধি পায় মহিলাদের শারীরিক ভালবাসার চাহিদা। ‘পার্সোনালিটি অ্যান্ড ইন্ডিভিজুয়াল ডিফারেন্সেস’-এ প্রকাশিত একটি গবেষণাপত্রে বলা হচ্ছে, ২৭ থেকে ৪৫ বছর বয়সি বিবাহিত মহিলারা তাঁদের যৌন জীবনে শুধু যে অধিকতর সক্রিয় তা-ই নয়, তাঁদের যৌন ফ্যান্টাসিগুলিও অল্পবয়সি অবিবাহিত মহিলাদের থেকে অনেক বেশি তীব্র। কিন্তু এমনটা হওয়ার কারণ কী?
ওই একই গবেষণাপত্রে দাবি করা হচ্ছে, এই প্রশ্নের উত্তর নিহিত রয়েছে মানবসভ্যতার ইতিহাসে। আদিম মানবসমাজে বিভিন্ন রোগব্যাধি, যুদ্ধ, অনাহার ও প্রাকৃতিক দু্র্যোগে অজস্র শিশুর মৃত্যু দেখতে দেখতে বড় হতে হত মেয়েদের। ফলে অল্পবয়স থেকেই যত বেশি সম্ভব শিশুর জন্ম দিয়ে এই শিশুমৃত্যুর ক্ষতিপূরণের একটা বাসনা তৈরি হত মেয়েদের মনে। এই মনোভাবের রেশ আধুনিক যুগের মহিলাদের মনেও রয়ে গিয়েছে। কিন্তু বয়স বাড়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে মহিলাদের সন্তানধারণের ক্ষমতা হ্রাস পায়। ফলে সেক্ষেত্রে বাড়াতে হয় যৌনক্রিয়ার পরিমাণ।
বাঙালি মহিলাদের ক্ষেত্রে এই নিয়মের ব্যতিক্রম ঘটে না। বরং মনস্তাত্ত্বিক সুধীর কাকর ও ক্যাথারিনা কাকরের‘দা ইন্ডিয়ানস: পোর্ট্রেট অফ আ পিপল’ গ্রন্থে বলা হচ্ছে, সাধারণভাবে ভারতীয় দাম্পত্য জীবনে এখনও বহুলাংশে সন্তানলাভকেই যৌনতার প্রধান লক্ষ্য বলে মনে করা হয়। ফলে সন্তান জন্ম নেওয়ার পরে ভারতীয় দম্পতিদের স্বাভাবিক যৌন জীবনে একটা ভাটা আসে। যৌনতার অভাব বাঙালি ও ভারতীয় মহিলাদের মধ্যে যৌন তাড়নার বৃদ্ধি ঘটায় বলেই মনে করছেন মনস্তাত্ত্বিকরা। স্বাভাবিকভাবেই, বিয়ের পরে বেড়ে যায় বাঙালি মহিলাদের ভালবাসারা চাহিদা।
