বিশেষ কয়েকজন নারী কেন অধিকাংশ পুরুষের কাছেই আকর্ষণীয়, তা বোঝার চেষ্টা করেছেন গবেষকরা। নারীদের হরমোনের মাত্রার ওপর এই আকর্ষণের বিষয়টি নির্ভর করে বলে ধারণা করছেন তারা। উঁচু মাত্রায় এস্ট্রাডিওল ও নিম্ন মাত্রায় প্রোগেস্টেরোনের কারণে এই আকর্ষণ তৈরি হয়।

বিজ্ঞানীরা বলছেন, এর মাধ্যমে বোঝা যায় যে ঘ্রাণের মাধ্যমে উর্বরতাও পরিমাপ করা সম্ভব।(collected)
